Place:Room 205, Teaching Building No. 6, BIT
Introduction of Speaker:
Dr. Chellali is a Professor at the Nanjing Tech University, where he also serves as the deputy director of the Nanjing Robotics Institute. He received both M.S. degree and PhD in robotics at University of Paris. In 2005, he received the Habilitation Diploma from the University of Nantes, France. Prof. Chellali is a known researcher in the fields of human behaviors analysis, human-robots interactions, telerobotics and virtual reality. Over the years, Prof. Chellali has published over 130 research papers, and participated to over 10 European projects in the last 10 years. When he served as a senior scientist at the Italian Institute of Technology from 2006-2015, he co-founded the Telerobotics department and leaded the Human Robots Mediated Interactions group. He received two French awards “Creation of Innovative Companies” in 2000 and 2005 when he created two start-up companies.
Abstract:
Research of Human Robots Interactions combines exact models and experimental approaches toward developing interaction frameworks and robots. Models for robotic observations are objective, but models for human studies are not accurate enough at psychology and social sciences’ aspects. Moreover, quantitative approaches can only be adopted to observe isolated aspects instead of experiments. In this lecture, Prof. Chellali will propose a data driven technique to remove modeling constraints and by using statistical tools extracting weakly hypothesized regularity.
